Whites make up only 7 percent of the population in South Africa, but they own around 75 percent of the land, a “hangover” from the centuries of white oppression and violence against the indigenous Black population there. The non-landowning, white working class also does very well in South Africa, earning around three times more than similarly situated Black laborers. White folks in South Africa are much better off than, say, white folks in West Virginia."
